Au fil du temps, ces \u00e9missions ont eu un impact significatif sur l\u2019\u00e9cosyst\u00e8me naturel de la plan\u00e8te. La concentration atmosph\u00e9rique de CO\u2082 est pass\u00e9e d\u2019environ 300 parties par million (ppm) au d\u00e9but du XX\u1d49 si\u00e8cle \u00e0 424 ppm en 2025, soit une hausse nette de 50 % depuis le d\u00e9but de la r\u00e9volution industrielle.\n\n<br>\n\n<br>Cette augmentation rapide du CO\u2082 atmosph\u00e9rique est directement li\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019utilisation des combustibles fossiles. Ces derniers renferment du carbone accumul\u00e9 sur des millions d\u2019ann\u00e9es gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la photosynth\u00e8se. C\u2019est la m\u00e9thode la plus adaptable, et elle peut \u00eatre int\u00e9gr\u00e9e \u00e0 la plupart des proc\u00e9d\u00e9s industriels existants, notamment dans les industries de raffinage et p\u00e9trochimiques, la production d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9, ainsi que dans les secteurs des m\u00e9taux et des mines.<\/p><p>La <span style=\"color: #3a96b8;\"><strong>capture pr\u00e9-combustion<\/strong><\/span> intervient plus t\u00f4t dans le processus, en \u00e9liminant le CO\u2082 avant la combustion du combustible. Le combustible est d\u2019abord transform\u00e9 en hydrog\u00e8ne par un proc\u00e9d\u00e9 de gaz de synth\u00e8se, et le monoxyde de carbone (CO) est converti en CO\u2082 avant la combustion. Cette approche permet d\u2019utiliser l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne comme source d\u2019\u00e9nergie propre, tandis que le CO\u2082 est capt\u00e9 et confin\u00e9.<\/p><p>La <span style=\"color: #3a96b8;\"><strong>combustion oxy-fuel<\/strong><\/span> utilise de l\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne pur au lieu de l\u2019air pour br\u00fbler le combustible. Elle produit ainsi un gaz de combustion presque enti\u00e8rement compos\u00e9 de CO\u2082 et de vapeur d\u2019eau, ce qui simplifie consid\u00e9rablement la s\u00e9paration et la r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration du dioxyde de carbone.<\/p><p>Au-del\u00e0 de ces approches industrielles, la <strong>capture directe dans l\u2019air (DAC)<\/strong> offre une solution pour extraire le CO\u2082 directement de l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re. Les sites de stockage typiques comprennent :<br \/>\u2022 Les <strong>gisements p\u00e9troliers et gaziers \u00e9puis\u00e9s<\/strong>, qui ont d\u00e9montr\u00e9 leur capacit\u00e9 naturelle \u00e0 retenir les gaz pendant des millions d\u2019ann\u00e9es<br \/>\u2022 Les <strong>aquif\u00e8res salins profonds<\/strong>, offrant une capacit\u00e9 de stockage consid\u00e9rable \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle mondiale<br \/>\u2022 Les <strong>veines de charbon non exploitables<\/strong>, o\u00f9 le CO\u2082 peut se fixer sur le charbon tout en d\u00e9pla\u00e7ant le m\u00e9thane<\/p><p>Les sites de stockage sont \u00e9valu\u00e9s selon des crit\u00e8res stricts de s\u00e9curit\u00e9, d\u2019int\u00e9grit\u00e9 et de capacit\u00e9. De nombreuses industries d\u00e9couvrent aujourd\u2019hui des fa\u00e7ons innovantes de le r\u00e9utiliser.<\/p><p>Dans le cadre de la r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration assist\u00e9e du p\u00e9trole (EOR), le CO\u2082 est inject\u00e9 dans des gisements matures pour am\u00e9liorer les taux d\u2019extraction, tout en pi\u00e9geant une partie du gaz dans le r\u00e9servoir. Dans le secteur chimique, il sert de mati\u00e8re premi\u00e8re pour la production de m\u00e9thanol, d\u2019ur\u00e9e et de carburants synth\u00e9tiques.<\/p><p>Le secteur de la construction utilise \u00e9galement le CO\u2082 pour produire des mat\u00e9riaux \u00e0 faible empreinte carbone, notamment du b\u00e9ton min\u00e9ralis\u00e9.
