Les \u00e9changeurs de chaleur sont parfois utilis\u00e9s pour r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer la chaleur du fluide de processus apr\u00e8s r\u00e9action, ou simplement pour refroidir le fluide avant le transport ou le stockage.<\/p><p>L&rsquo;eau est couramment utilis\u00e9e comme fluide de refroidissement dans des circuits ferm\u00e9s pour desservir l&rsquo;ensemble du site de l&rsquo;usine ou dans des arrangements \u00e0 passage unique \u00e0 partir d&rsquo;une source d&rsquo;eau \u00e0 proximit\u00e9, telle qu&rsquo;une rivi\u00e8re ou un lac. Ces fuites peuvent \u00eatre minuscules (de la taille d&rsquo;un trou d&rsquo;\u00e9pingle) ou catastrophiques. De l\u00e0, le fluide \u00e0 deux phases bien m\u00e9lang\u00e9 est dirig\u00e9 vers un s\u00e9parateur hydraulique, permettant de s\u00e9parer la phase gazeuse enrichie en hydrocarbures de l&rsquo;eau de refroidissement.
